Skoda Unveil Vision D Concept at Geneva
Skoda is one of the most talked about car manufacturers at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Skoda unveiled a complete redesign of their brand identity and renovated marketing strategy with their new VisionD concept.
Recent sales have skyrocketed for Skoda when compared with sales from the previous year. 2010 sales increased by an impressive 10.5%, given the current economic climate. Skoda is concentrating their efforts within the UK with their new marketing strategy. They have united their global presence by binning their UK strapline “manufacturer of happy drivers” and are replacing it with the international slogan “simply clever”.
CEO Winfried Vahland explains: ‘Britain is on course to become Europe’s second-largest market, and despite our ambitions in emerging countries such as Russia and China, Europe will always be at our core. That’s why we’ll invest significantly in growing our presence in Britain.’
Skoda’s new design philosophy breathes precision. The new Skoda VisionD concept is sharp and extremely neat. The interior is finished with clear glass to embody a futuristic look and feel. The modern image has received an immense amount of coverage following the opening of the Geneva Motor Show.
The automotive media are excited to see the new concept and design direction starting to roll across Skoda models. The new logo is reported to be attached to the new cars in 2012 completing the full package and marketing efforts of the year to come.
Motoring press including WhatCar? and Which? have been mesmerised by Skoda’s new way of thinking and even Top Gear have given a positive response, and those men are hard to please. It is comforting to know that Skoda has retained their distinctive traits of roominess and distinctive lines with a modern twist. This cleverly attracts younger buyers whilst not alienating their loyal customers.
